BALLARAT will showcase collections from Australia’s leading designers when Melbourne Spring Fashion Week extends its schedule to the regional city in September.
The BMW Ballarat Fashion Series will feature local designers including Ballarat’s Rebecca Vallance and Warrnambool’s Lisa Gorman (Gorman), unveiling the Western District’s contribution to the fashion industry in MSFW’s only regional runway.
With family ties still in Ballarat, Rebecca Vallance launched her namesake label of high-end women’s wear in Paris in 2011 before bursting into the Australian fashion scene in 2012. Her label has since garnered an ever-growing, global following and is retailed online, at the flagship boutique in Sydney, and in David Jones department stores nationwide.
Rebecca also showed on-schedule at New York Fashion week in February 2014 and re-joined the official schedule in 2015.
“It’s always exciting to show my latest collection on the runway, but to come back to my home town of Ballarat and be able to share the runway experience with family, friends and fashion enthusiasts is particularly special,” Rebecca said.
Visit Ballarat Chief Executive Officer Noel Dempsey said the calibre of designers featuring on the runway at MSFW’s Ballarat regional extension was phenomenal.
“To have Rebecca Vallance and Lisa Gorman both showcase collections on our runway is a nod to the quality of talent coming out of the Western District,” he said.
